In October 2024, Labiba Wahab, Assistant Director at A. Wahab & Co. had the pleasure of hosting a webinar on the foundations of relationship building and writing good emails to the LEA Global Asia-Pacific Young Professionals community. It was an opportunity to provide valuable insights and practical tips to enhance client interactions with an audience of both seasoned professionals and new entrants to the corporate world.
Labiba chose this topic due to the importance of effective communication in building strong relationships in both one’s professional and personal life, especially as the number of communication options available to the average person in 2024 grows to include not merely in-person interactions but also video calls, audio-only calls, email, text, and media broadcasts via websites and social media. Navigating these various mediums well makes the difference between a healthy relationship that creates fulfillment and future opportunities and one that devolves into chaos, drama, and frustration. Some key takeaways from the webinar include:
• Relationship-building techniques that go beyond surface-level interactions, including how to build trust, showing empathy, setting boundaries, negotiating effectively, active listening, and soliciting feedback.
• Email excellence, from being specific in your subject line and leading with your main point to using important tools such as scheduling, grammar checkers, signatures, and CC and BCC.
• Interactive examples of email pitfalls and what to do instead.
